High Tunnels at Empire State Fruit and Vegetable Expo

There are lots of opportunities to learn about high tunnels at the Empire State Fruit and Vegetable Expo.

Here’s the line-up for the High Tunnel session on the morning of Feb. 12:

  • 8:55 What’s new from industry?
  • 9:00 Organic high tunnel tomatoes in bag culture – Ron Goldy, Michigan State University
  • 9:30 How high tunnels help our farm – Zaid Kurdieh, Norwich Meadow Farm, Norwich
  • 10:15 Cultural control of high tunnel vegetable pests – Rebecca Hargrave, CCE Chenango Co.
  • 10:35 Grafting tomato update – Judson Reid, CCE Vegetable Program
  • 11:00 ADJOURN, LUNCH & VISIT TRADE

In addition, at 10 a.m. during the Berry Session, Marvin Pritts, Department of Horticulture at Cornell University, will present on High tunnel raspberries and blackberries.

If you can’t make those sessions, you can always catch the DVD – High tunnels: Using low-cost technology to increase yields, improve quality and extend the season (45 min.) showing in the exhibit hall.
