Ever wonder what a partnership between a national football team and an animal welfare organization would look like? Look no further than the Kansas City Chiefs, who are headed to the AFC conference championships this Sunday.

Derrick Nnadi, #91, is defensive tackle for the KC Chiefs and has partnered again with KC Pet Project to sponsor all adoption fees for their #NnadiDog of the week! Nnadi came up with this idea after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2020 and was able to cover adoption fees for 120 dogs. As reported by KMBC 9 News, “For every Chiefs win, he sponsors an adoption fee and that dog usually goes home very, very quickly,” said Tori Fugate of KC Pet Project.

What makes these adoptions a bit more special is that #NnadiDogs are ones that usually take a bit longer to market and find the right home. By Nnadi sponsoring the adoption fees, as well as highlighting a #NnadiDog of the week, the partnership features animals that have a much harder time finding an adoptive home.

The partnership between KC Pet Project and Derrick Nnadi is a win-win scenario. Perhaps this story can help other animal welfare organizations brainstorm how they can create this type of relationship in their area. The power of social media can go a long way.

On behalf of #NnadiDogs, hopefully there are many more wins for the KC Chiefs in the future!KC Pet Project
