Using their own bite marks on bite plates, students learn about tooth differentiation, how to distinguish an upper from a lower jaw, and how bite marks can be used as evidence in forensics. Teachers can follow Greg Panzanaro’s “I’ll Have a Bite” lab, or design their own activity.
Please let us know how many students/bite plates you will need, so we can send you appropriate amounts of materials. For the lab activity, each student needs 2 bite plates and 7 transparency plates. There are approximately 9 bite plates per meat tray, and 8 transparency plates per sheet.
The kit includes:
- Transparency sheets
- Rose meat trays
Teachers must supply:
- Soapy water
- Paper towels
- Scotch tape
