Stadiometers: Foot to Height Forensics Lab

Scientists have determined that a person’s foot length is equal to approximately 15% of their height. This is most accurate for full-grown adults.

Using the “Foot to Height” Forensics Lab and two of CIBT’s new stadiometers, students will collect data to see if the foot length of their peers is about 15% of their actual height. After measuring the length of one foot, students will calculate height measurements and then compare the calculated height to actual height– measured by the stadiometers.

This lab can be adapted for just about every grade level, from upper Elementary to High School. The kit provides teachers with two stadiometers and easy-to-follow assembly instructions.

Each kit contains:

  • 2 stadiometers, each with the following parts:
    • 1 large base
    • 4 long metered pieces
    • 1 red window piece
    • 1 wall support piece
  • 2 laminated double-sided sheets with illustrations and instructions
