Mechanical stress and cold water keep lilies shorter

In Bill Miller’s greenhouse management course this spring, a group of students conducted an experiment that will be of interest to exporters. The group (Katy Johnson, Geoff Reeves, Jed Barker
and Becky Gillette) grew Easter lilies using three treatments — ‘touching’, pouring cold water on the growing point and the same with warm water — in addition to an untreated control.
