BOOM Event Details

Cornell University’s Faculty of Computing and Information Science is pleased to invite you to BOOM 2017, Bits On Our Minds. BOOM is an annual showcase of student research and creativity in digital technology and applications. It’s an opportunity for Cornell undergraduate and Master’s-level students to show their best work in cutting-edge technologies, and past displays have included iPhone applications, video games, and robotics.

Public transportation

BOOM will take place in Duffield Hall Atrium, which is very close to the Sage Hall and Statler Hall TCAT bus stops. Many routes that service Ithaca and surrounding areas stop in that area of campus. For more information, please see the TCAT website.

Parking

Limited metered public parking is available in the lower level of Hoy Street Garage. Please visit the Hoy Street Parking Information Kiosk for more information. Sponsors should contact Lindsay Welsh in the CIS Dean’s office for a complimentary parking pass.

All events free and open to the public unless otherwise noted

2:00pm  – 4:00 pm – K-12 school outreach program *( not open the public)
4:00 pm – BOOM public showcase opens
4:30‐5:30 pm – Sponsor award selections and photos
5:45 pm – Award ceremony
6:00 pm – BOOM closes
6:00-7:45 pm – Networking reception (for presenters, sponsors, faculty/staff)

K-12 outreach program

School kids at BOOMBOOM is free and open to the public. Middle school students and their teachers are particularly encouraged to attend. There will be a special pre-event presentation and showcase sneak peak available to school groups where they will have an opportunity to meet with the Cornell student presenters prior to the general public’s arrival. All BOOM attendees will be able to  participate in demonstrations and vote on their favorite project, and there will be refreshments and door prizes.
