Barthelmie Wind Energy Research Lab

Our research is focused on wind energy resources and wakes. It is at the intersection between mechanical engineering and atmospheric science. We use both full-field scale measurements and modeling to optimize wind resource assessment and wind farm layout. Right now we are especially interested in wind and turbulence measurements using lidar and wake measurement and modeling for large wind farms, particularly offshore and in complex terrain.
