The Tumbar Lab of Tissue Stem Cell Biology

Cornell University

Research Assistant/Tech IV Position

We are searching for a Bachelor graduate with a Biology Major who is available immediately for a Research Tech IV position in the Tissue Stem Cell Biology Lab led by Tudorita Tumbar, Professor in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University. The successful candidate should have at least 2-4 years of lab experience in areas related to our work. The candidate will in part (~40% time) cover lab-managing functions including ordering reagents, lab equipment maintenance, training new personnel, creating and updating databases and the lab website, updating the mouse protocol, and other lab-organization functions, such as scheduling …

Nina published in the EMBO J: Cross-talking of vasculature and hair follicle stem cells

After years of hard work, Nina finally published her second research paper about the relationship between hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) and their vasculature niche. It’s not been a smooth journey but definitely a beautiful chapter in her life. Congratulations, Nina!

Below are several keep points from her paper:

  • Alk1 modulates vascular spatial rearrangement but …

  • Undergraduate Position (Closed)

The Tumbar Lab of Tissue Stem Cell Biology has two openings for undergraduate research assistants. We are looking for self-motivated freshman/sophomore undergraduate students to assist with research lab work. The primary role of the undergraduate student includes maintaining the mouse colony, performing wet lab experiments (immuno-staining, imaging, and other molecular biology experiments), and assisting in analyzing sequencing data (RNA-seq / single cell RNA-seq). By applying to this position, you can gain independent research experience, learn about cool biology, and be an author on research papers from the Tumbar lab. The positions will begin this summer (for pay) …

Open graduate positions available in Tumbar Lab

We are looking to recruit graduate students in the Tumbar Lab to work on two projects on epithelial stem cell biology, which will be newly funded this year by the NIH. The first project aims to understand how heterogenous population of epidermal stem cells are spatially and molecularly organized to confer robust protection of skin to UV exposure and to other environmental challenges. The second project is focusing on the molecular cross-talking between epithelial stem cells and their endothelial and perineurial niches, and how this cross-talking is essential for skin tissue homeostasis and wound healing. We use …
