NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate Position: A full-time NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate position in Skin Stem Cell Biology is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tudorita Tumbar, Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetic at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA (https://blogs.cornell.edu/tumbarlab/). The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biology and will take a leading role in implementing mouse genetics and cutting-edge genomic approaches to address fundamental questions in Tissue Stem Cell Biology. We currently investigate molecular mechanisms that control skin stem cell fate decisions in development and homeostasis in 3 specific areas: 1) characterizing the heterogeneity and diverse physiological function of epidermal stem/progenitor cells in mouse and human skin; 2) examining the role of histone methylation and active transcriptional control in cell fate decision in mouse skin stem/progenitor cells; 3) mapping the interactions of blood vessels and endothelial cells as signaling niches of adult epithelial skin stem cells. The anticipated duration of this
position is 5 years. Compensation and benefits in accordance with the NIH guideline and relocation
reimbursement will be available. The Ithaca campus is a vibrant and broad academic community, with ample opportunities to grow and develop as an independent scientist in an inclusive and supportive environment, with a convenient small-town family-oriented lifestyle.
