Welcome

Welcome to Systems Thinking @ Cornell, the hub of all things systems thinking at Cornell University.

Systems Thinking at Cornell University

Through basic and applied research, Cornell Faculty lead the way in developing new theory and practice in the field of Systems Thinking. Not long ago, Systems Thinking was mostly anecdotal and we had little empirical research on what it was, how it was done, and how it could be developed into an effective practice. Today, as a result of research in DSRP Theory started at Cornell University, we have an empirical basis for systems thinking.

Systems Thinking is a field of the systems sciences that focuses on the development of cognitive complexity, metacognition, and parallelism between mind (our mental models of nature) and nature (the systemic phenomena under investigation).

STLoop Cabrera and Cabrera
The Systems Thinking Loop shows how DSRP Theory leads to increased parallelism in mental models and nature’s systems. Cabrera Research Lab
