SIPS faculty & students recognized at annual horticulture conference

The 2023 Annual Conference of the American Society of Horticultural Science (ASHS) was held July 31 – August 4 in Orlando Florida. Awards to SIPS faculty and students included:

ASHS Fruit Breeding Award: Susan Brown and Kevin Maloney for breeding of the NY-1 “Snapdragon” apple

1st place, Best Undergraduate Poster: Jules Hart, Brent Arnoldussen and Gregory Peck. Assessing Bloom Phenology in Cider Apples.

Shepard Award, Best Paper in the Journal of the American Pomological Society: Samantha A. Willden, Marvin P. Pritts and Gregory M. Loeb. Twospotted spider mite preference and performance on day-neutral strawberry in New York and the role of structural characteristics in plant susceptibility
