Jenn Thomas-Murphy, SIPS Extension Support Specialist, is leaving Cornell as of June 30th to take a position as director of community engagement with Glove House Inc, a children and family services organization in Elmira NY. While her colleagues are happy for her new opportunity, she will be missed by those who have worked with her and depended on her skills.

A Cornell alumna with a BS in Landscape Architecture and an MPS in Horticulture, Jenn was hired by the Department of Crop & Soil Sciences in 2014 to support extension activities. With the creation of SIPS, she became an integral member of the SIPS communications team. In this position she has been responsible for the design, organization, and implementation of web resources for Cornell’s Integrated Field Crops extension program and the “Organics at Cornell” initiative, assisted with creation and updates to the SIPS website, and served as a communications resource for extension personnel around the state.

Jenn’s skills in photography, video production, digital publishing, web design, and social media account management have significantly contributed to  extension efforts across CALS. Her work can be seen in the many issues of “What’s Cropping Up?”, her photographs are used by CALS media, and she produced and edited many videos for extension and instructional purposes, the latter of which were particularly valuable for addressing teaching needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jenn also designed our popular SIPS bags and many years of Cornell Weed Science shirts. For anyone wishing to extend their thanks and appreciation, she can be reached at jnt3_at_cornell.edu.
