February 2022 update from SIPS Director Chris Smart

Dear SIPS community,

I hope you are all enjoying the snow today, it’s quite beautiful and I look forward to some cross-country skiing this weekend.

Welcome!

  • Dr. Levon Esters, Purdue University, has been appointed as a SIPS-wide adjunct professor. We look forward to working with Levon.
  • Dan Buckley, Director of Graduate Studies for the MPS in Integrative Plant Science program (read about the SIPS MPS leadership)

Faculty Search update:

  • Sustainable weed management – the position has been posted to AJO, please forward it to anyone that may be interested. https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/20872
  • CALS cohort hireApplications have been reviewed and the SIPS committee is narrowing to pool. Interviews will occur later this month, keep an eye out for opportunities to engage with the candidates.
  • SIPS Director – The process continues to move forward. Beth Ahner has contacted potential candidates and will provide more information on the next steps in the process later this month.

Renovation

Plant Science Renovation: Not many new updates. We should be getting images of what the renovated building will look like in the next month or so. We will send a link when available.
