Sign Language

I really like American Sign Language event! i know how to do the 26 alphabets using both hands . I also know how to say My name is … and My major is … the emotion phrase, and facial expressions. At first,it seems very easy to do but it seems harder to use both hand to express your feelings easily. It is very useful for us to know because if we encounter people who has disability we can use what we learn and what we see to help them better understand our conversation. I hope we could have more workships like this, we could gain more knowledge outside of classes.

History of Campus

I really like Mr.Blalock’s talk about the history of west campus. I learned lots of building history at Cornell. For example, the south baker dorm is named after Baker( third richest man ). He also showed us lots of  pictures of buildings symbols and probably they have different meanings. I also learned that the first cornell gate is in college town. I found the west campus wood model is really detailed and structured. It looked exactly like the west campus. At the last, he showed us some beautiful sunsets!

Learn the natural areas

I learned a lot from Mr.Bittner; he told us lots of plant history and the history of cornell plants. He introduced us some plants that we have never seen before. I really like to learn more about different species and natural areas because natural areas are really important to our environment. He also invited us to apply for the Botanic Garden summer internship program.

Game night

The game night was very interesting.I learned how to play chess and board game. It is also exciting to see other rose scholars to play video games. Overall, this game night is a time that everyone is relax and calm. I really like it!

Book

I really like the book discussion. I learned that information technology really play a big role in this book. There are lots of students that are info sci major in this book discussion. They contributed lots of their perspective to us. I hope we could have more discussion like this one. From different students and the author, we can get more feedback from them. I found this event is meaninful
