A Good Start to the Semester

I was abroad for the fall semester and coming back to Cornell for the spring has been such a whirlwind. It feels like there has been one thing after another coming up and I can feel the stress already starting. I was so excited to see an arts and crafts activity as one of the events for this week. I thought it would just be a fun start to the semester, but little did I know how much I would need it. My Thursday was packed with classes and responding to emails and finding books for classes. I was exhausted and I almost forgot that I had a Rose Scholars event to attend. My friend Joanna and I love doing arts and crafts and the minute we got there I couldn’t help but smile. I loved making the snowflakes and lanterns. I think half the fun was messing up and still trying to make it work by writing it off as an artistic choice. I am so glad that I decided to sign up for this event and I’m pretty sure I got an A for effort. Not a bad start to the semester.

  1. Very nicely made lanterns! I can relate to your experience as my first trial was not successful either. Making lanterns do take lots of time and patience, but the sense of accomplishment from it is also unparalleled!
