In a discussion, the idea of tolerance is a prevelant issue in today’s America and world. We are becoming more open and seeking more connections with everyone overall than people before the 2000s. However, there comes the issue of tolerance and what people truly think. Some people have a different mindset than others and focus mainly on that rather than connecting with others. In this day and age, we shouldn’t be doing that and making safe spaces for people that have different ideas. I can see why though as, no matter, no one is extremely wrong on what they think. The entire issue stems from the fact that some people cannot connect with other people mindsets or even relate to them

Firing and entertainment
Up in the air is a film about a man having fun firing people. At first, actually being entertaining and somewhat comedic watching how indifferent he gets in firing people, it actually is a depressing film in the end. He lives to destroy lives at first but it is quickly shown that he cares somewhat. He cares enough to have the respect of at least appearing regretful and appears to dislike firing people. Even when his new coworker gets proven wrong and people are becoming suicidal, he questions himself rather than others on what is going wrong in his life. In the end he finally regrets it all and finally decides to change his life, which is an amazing end to the film.
A Musical Rehersal
I formerly did choir in high school and some of the freshman year. I loved doing it but I had other time commitments at the time that prevented me from doing this. From my attending this rehearsal, I felt like I connected more with myself and what I was doing. I heard about how much time they practiced, which is insane from how much it differs at times, and how they chose songs. The way that each signer has an incredible range on how they can sing was actually amazing and how easy they can swap their style from one another. If I had a choice, I would watch Aaron during his performance and actually pay to see it, as the rehersal was truly amazing.
(L)Ove
From this movie, I can see how people can connect to one another. Ove was at the start a sad, angry man who lost everything in his life. His wife and his home are gone and everyone either harrases him or force events to occur around him. However, good people start to actually show up in his life. Even though he has hard moments such as with the girls, he manages to start to connect with others one again but still have difficulties doing it. He even starts to improve once he starts to save others from doing what he was doing to himself. Someone like this deserved better in life but Ove only realized it in the end, surrounded by niceness around him.
Collecting Books
This was the first time me going out and actually going to buy a book rather than just ordering one on online. I remembered that I actually I almost missed coming and had to rush out to meet my friend ten minutes after they already got there. The collection of books they had was really outstanding. From educational to sci-fi, there were several genres that I enjoyed. I purchased a computer science book and before I left to get back to campus, I actually went back and see if I can find some type of antique book. If I could, I would come back again just to find one. I love old books and originals and if they had one, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Preparation for Endgame
I went and saw Marvel’s Black Panther at Rose for the third time in a while to prepare for end-game. I am a Marvel Fan and loved the changes they did to heros on-screen and how they still keep some of the same aspects as their comic-version. I loved the sound and music, along with them keeping the classic black panther costume while adding things to it. However, I dislike how some people read into the movie and what they connected with it. There’s signs and messages in the movie that are super apperant and connectable but some people go deeper and try to connect with something that isn’t there. I still love the movie and Black Panther’s appearance in endgame, but I do not think it deserves a 10/10 rating.
Free Lunch
I attended a roundtable that focused upon world hunger and where we were at now. I knew that world hunger was already going down but I didn’t realize that there was now side-issues that were now being created overall. The most prominent being mentioned is the hunger being considered in first-world country. I didn’t know that there was a major problem of hunger not be regarded in first-world country sinces no one never thinks about it being in a heavily wealthy country. I even had a talk with a neighbor afterwards mentioning how things like soup kitchens and poverty overall are signs of a country being in hunger. The main thing I brought up though, was the cheap food and how it makes it look like someone is not starving even though it’s not a lot of calories at times.
Finishing Up Papers
Towards the end of the semester, I managed to finish writing a short story for my final writing seminar. At first, when I entered the class I thought it was going to be boring but instead it turned out to be entertaining and thought-provoking. Reflecting latin-American society with literature gave me a new glimpse towards the world of fiction and genre. When I hit a roadblock, I decided to go to the write-in hosted by the Rose House, where I received a lot of inspiration from one of my friends. They described how their minor hardships snowballed into one major one from their home country and that one event does not define a person entirely. When I talked to others about my story, it seemed that the story managed to be held up to high regards overall and I actually admire my paper myself.
V For Vendetta Objectives
On Friday Night, I watched the film “V For Vendetta”, which is a about an future ultarian society. V, the titular character who fights back against the government, is seen as a hero from both viewers in the film and viewers watching the movie. V, however, does questionable things throughout the movie, as seen where he psychologically tortures Evey. This brings in mind whether or not if torture like this is more or less ethical to do towards another person. V wasn’t going to kill her but it was unknown what he was going to do if she told V’s actual location. The torture V did to her was accepted by her as needed and that she became stronger as a result. But this brings in question of if V should be punished for what he has done, even though Evey accepted it. In my opinion, he should be punished for what he has done and be seen as a very radical anti-hero. Evey was fearing for her life and was accepting death and V acted as if he was innocent from what he had done once Evey accepted that it was needed. V didn’t need to do what he did, as she was simply an innocent member of society. This brings in question of whether or not everyone in that society is guilty.
