Sitting still is actually hard: The discipline of meditation

I have been constantly told the benefits of meditation. It is even recommended by our school for a way to de-stress and relax. So, of course, I wanted to try meditation. But honestly, for me, I could not feel the benefits after trying it. It could be possible that this ritual has not become a habit yet so the full effects are not felt. I just couldn’t stop fidgeting and letting my mind wander off. I see now that meditation takes time, practice, and dedication to feel the full benefits. To me, I need to be in the moment and thinking about the now and future, while meditation rejects the thinking about the future, I just couldn’t let the notion go. Maybe meditation is just not for me.
