Grants Available for Technical Assistance, Business Viability and Food Safety

 

The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC) announces the release of two funding opportunities to elevate Northeast region dairy businesses. Applications for both grants will open October 26.

These two grant opportunities are available to dairy producers looking to add processing to their farms and in need of technical assistance. One is for multiple farms while individual farms may apply to the second. If you have an interest, reach out to Nancy at nig3@cornell.edu or 585-315-7746.

The Dairy Business Viability and Technical Assistance Grant program will provide grants for coordinated technical assistance projects to benefit multiple dairy producers and/or processors by enhancing business operations and strengthening markets. Eligible applicants include dairy processors, producer associations, distributors, retailers, and technical service providers in the Northeast region. Technical assistance could include business consulting, marketing and branding assistance, enhancing distribution channels, product or byproduct innovation, or market diversification. Awards will range from $10,000 to $100,000 with a 25% cash or in-kind match requirement. Applications are due December 7, 2021.

The Dairy Food Safety & Certification Grant program will provide grants for dairy businesses to take actionable steps to increase production safety standards with the goal of accessing new markets. Projects that increase marketability of dairy products will be prioritized. Grant funds may be used for technical assistance, audits, food safety plan development, training, testing fees, and certain infrastructure upgrades. This application is open to dairy producers, processors, and producer associations based in the Northeast. Grants will range from $10,000 – $40,000 with a 25% cash or in-kind match requirement. Applications are due February 3, 2022.
