Researchers Seeking Farmer Input on 2 Topics – Soybean Cyst Nematode Management and Biochar as a Soil Amendment

Since soybean cyst nematode (SCN) was first discovered in NNY in 2019, CCE and NYSIPM has been offering education and presentations on management of this important yield-robbing pest. As part of a NYSIPM research project on the topic, researchers are surveying farmers to assess the impact of their recent education sessions. Please consider answering their short survey if you attended the 2021 Crop Congress or accessed a NYSIPM session on SCN management. Biochar as a soil amendment has caught on among some farming systems as a way to sequester carbon while improving soil health and fertility, at least in some soils. A University of Albany graduate student is surveying farmer views of this practice with an online questionnaire. Access the survey on biochar here:  https://albany.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d1pTG6uwZa9qk86.

Your feedback on these two surveys will help researchers design future research and outreach efforts.
