Register for the 2021 Virtual Dairy Cattle Welfare Symposium

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Registration is now open for the 2021 Virtual Dairy Cattle Welfare Symposium: Promoting dairy cattle welfare and ethics through science and implementation of best practices. The program will be held online on May 25-27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time each day. The Dairy Cattle Welfare Council (DCWC), a growing organization formally established in 2016, is hosting the event. The three-day virtual symposium will cover dairy cattle welfare from the beginning to the end. Bringing together dairy farmers, veterinarians, consultants, universities, and the dairy community for learning and discussion to continue to improve the well-being and health of dairy cattle and the ability and fulfilment of farmers and their staff. A comment from a past symposium was, “I think it is very rare that we manage to get minds with similar interests from different parts of the food chain together in one room. Made for very thoughtful discussion from different perspectives.” Another participant said, “Networking, networking, networking. The discussions happening around tables and in the hallways are always one of the most enlightening and useful pieces of the event – which is saying a lot because the level of material presented is typically outstanding!”

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Christine Webb from Harvard University discussing “Animal Empathy and the Ethical Snapshot”. Other speakers will include Nina Von Keyserlingk, Julie Føske Johnsen, Charles Ellett, Sharon Kuca, Karen Waite, Kris Hiney, Betsy Greene, Jeremy Marchant-Ford, Jennifer Walker, and Monique Pairis-Garcia. The program will also include breakout rooms for small group discussion as well as discussion with the full group.

Cost of registration for the 3-day program is $50. The two-day program will offer 9 hours of continuing education credits for veterinarians as well as potential credit from ARPAS, PAACO, and The FARM Program. The full conference schedule, other details and online registration are available on the symposium’s website at https://dcwcouncil.org/symposium
