About us

“See the child, the father of the man.”

The Life History Lab seeks to understand how developmental context shapes who we become as adults and especially how our biology calibrates to our developmental environment. Beyond cumulative risk or absence of adversity, the Life History Lab seeks to understand what in the developmental context we calibrate to, how we define adversity and enrichment, what trade-offs are incurred through calibration, and what epigenetic and neural mechanisms allow the environment to mold us. By uncovering these pathways, not only will we have a greater understanding of development, but we will also leverage these mechanisms towards interventions and applications that empower communities to facilitate values-based nurturing.
