Farmer Discussion Group meetings

The Capital Area Agriculture and Horticulture Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension will be holding its winter Farmer Discussion Group meetings in early January 2020.  Dayton Maxwell, newly hired Farm Business Management Educator will lead a discussion on farm business management in an agricultural economy that is as challenging as ever.  Aaron Gabriel, Agronomy Educator, will discuss new and old pests including the soybean cyst nematode, western bean cutworm, and several weeds (tall waterhemp, palmer amaranth, marestail, knapweeds, and bedstraws).  These pests create new challenges that will require diligent management.  One pesticide applicator recertification credit is available.  Lunch will be provided by our sponsors.  Please register online (at least one day in advance) at https://tinyurl.com/FarmerDiscussionGroups2020, or by contacting Aaron Gabriel, 518-380-1496, adg12@cornell.edu or Dayton Maxwell, 518-380-1498, dtm4@cornell.edu.  Meetings are January 7th @ Proudfit Hall, 181 South Main St. Salem, NY (Washington County); January 8th @ Knox Town Hall, 2192 Berne-Altamont Rd., Knox, Albany County;  January 9th @ Brunswick Family Community Center, 19 Keyes Ln, Troy, NY (Rensselaer County);  January 10th @ CCE – Columbia/Greene Office, 479 Rte 66, Hudson, NY (Columbia County);  January 14th @ Agroforestry Resource Center, 6055 NY Rte 23, Acra, NY (Greene County).
