Why such a low succesful reception of anything

The article states that a study was conducted to test out the 6 degrees of separation by having strangers from the Mid-west send a package to a stranger in Boston. This had been accomplished in 5 steps however the package reception rate was low. There was another study shown to explain why this had happened. This study consisted of using twitter to view how the networks had interacted with each-other and how density relates to this idea of a circular movement of a package. The population seen in the article shows the network around a central environment and how most of the twitter users had all known each-other and had not known the target person which elongated the process. The target individual had not been found due to the density of the network and when found had the package circled around. In the study the research found that like the package, twitter communications had seen the effects of movement of ideas or packages in a general area. This explains why the packages didn’t arrive on time. For example the package would arrive at the desired destination and then have a hard time reaching the targeted individual until in the are desired found the target individuals inner circle of friends.

This relates to what was talked on in class because it in its basic truth explains the 6 degrees of separation idea. The article also ties in ideas of Network Density and explains why most of the packages didn’t reach desired target through networks. It also brings up the idea of clustering in a smaller scale and how each cluster  is passed the package before it reaches the target individual.
