Tomato season is in full swing in our local high tunnels. That means our salad green trials have ended. In a cooperating Seneca County high tunnel we grew spinach, red lettuce, kale, pac-choy, tatsoi and red mustard over the winter time.
Using a single layer of row cover we overwintered all of these with no heat (besides solar). We planted in late September and made multiple harvests until April. Red mustard was a grower favorite-great flavor and less attractive to aphids.
Stay tuned for more updates.
