Welcome

Eating

We explore how behaviors around food impact child and parent behaviors related to diet quality, healthy growth and chronic disease. We focus on the development of eating habits in young children, the influence of caregivers, and the food environment to build healthy habits early in childhood.

Activity

We investigate the development of movement skills, physical activity patterns, and physical literacy in preschoolers, and aim to discover how interventions can improve physical activity habits over time. We focus on physical activity interventions that engage both parents and early childhood educators with the purpose of creating long-term change in the home and preschool environments.

Community

We engage with communities to reach individuals and families most at risk for health inequities to improve overall health outcomes in these populations. Much of our research focuses on the impact and improvement of community-centered interventions for families and childcare centers in low-income, rural communities.
