9/26/10 – Update
The 6th floor (call numbers A, F, P-PG) will close to the public on Tuesday, September 28. Only designated Access Services staff, who will be supervised by the contractor, will have access once a day to the floor for paging purposes. Construction will continue in the following areas:
- Penthouse (8th floor)
- 7th floor (call number range B-CT)
- 2nd floor corridor and surge space
- Basement tunnel entrance
- Sub basement
On Tuesday, September 28 , public elevator number 2 will shut down at 8 am to accommodate work related to the fire safety project in the Penthouse and the Sub basement. If the work goes as planned the elevator will again be operational late Friday afternoon, October 1. The following week beginning Monday, October 4, public elevator number 1 will be shut down at 8 am and be inaccessible until Thursday afternoon, October 7.
