We studied and followed a cat for 6 years. We collected and analyzed non-invasive samples while the cat was alive and analyzed the tissues post-euthanasia. This particular cat seemed to be an intermittent shedder of FCoV and in this study we revealed that FCoV may acquire certain mutations allowing it to harbor in specific tissues to form FIP symptoms.
