Cornell Crop & Soil Science Professors Cherney, Cox & Lehmann receive prestigious awards at International Meetings

In conjunction with the joint Tri-Societies annual meeting of ASA, CSSA, and SSSA October 21-24, 2012, three professors from Cornell University’s Department of Crop and Soil Science received awards for their outstanding accomplishments.  The awards were as follows:

Jerome H. Cherney, Cornell University – Agronomic Extension Education Award.  Recognized for his outstanding educational contributions in agronomic education outside the university classroom.

Bill Cox, Cornell University – Crop Science Extension Education Award. Recognized for the quality and impact of his educational programs outside the university classroom directed to crop producers of New York State and beyond.

Johannes Lehmann, Cornell University – Marion L. and Chrystie M. Jackson Soil Science Award.  The award recognizes a mid-career soil scientist who has made outstanding contributions in the areas of soil chemistry and mineralogy.

Johannes Lehmann, Cornell University – ASA Biochar Community’s Biochar Researcher of the Year Award.

The awards were presented at the Tri-Societies Annual Meeting in Cincinnati, OH, USA.  Nearly 4,000 people attended the meeting, and over 3,000 scientific reports were given.
