For the next three posts, we will give a overview of our work about our communication and video streaming.
Since we are not carrying enough computer power into the robot, we need a networking able to send the images to a remote station. To achieve that, we built a custom networking, inspired by Internet of Things strategy, to stream the images through a wireless connection. The StratusNet has a custom network architecture using both UDP and TCP protocols, which enable modules to auto-configure and connect:
- No Manual Setup Needed
- Network Adapts to the Application
- Don’t Have to Reconfigure Robot to Test Modules
The server uses the UDP protocol to broadcasts peer information to any client connected to the same wireless, and makes no need of IP and port set up every time a new test bench is made. Once connected, the TCP protocol guarantee reliable streaming of images. Such network enables video streaming.
