In this interactive session, participants will be asked to consider what courage looks like to them, how they learned what courage they do have, and what skills are necessary to build courage. Rooted in Brené Brown’s research and Dare to Lead™ curriculum, participants will walk away understanding how they can be more courageous in their lives.

 Kathryn Burkgren Kathryn Burkgren, PhD: Inspiring Leadership: Identifying and Developing Personal Traits to be an Inspiring Leader

Participants will learn key principles that are common qualities of inspiring leaders and actions that they, as leaders, can take to ensure inspiring leadership.

 Amy Kohut Amy Kohut, ACC: EQ for Leadership Development

This engaging workshop will introduce the Bar-On EQ-i 2.0 model of Emotional Intelligence, and help participants understand why Emotional Intelligence is a crucial component of leadership development and interpersonal effectiveness at work or at home. This model describes an array of interrelated emotional and social competency skills and behaviors. Part 1 will demonstrate the link between EQ and Leadership, with an introduction to the Bar On Model of Emotional intelligence. Part 2 will be engaging with the Bar On Model. Through self-reflection and small group conversations, participants will walk away with action steps to increase their EQ effectiveness.

This workshop will help women become aware of and eliminate self-sabotaging behaviors.

 Makenzie Peterson Makenzie Peterson, MSc: Understanding Imposter Syndrome, https://www.vet.cornell.edu/wellbeing
In this workshop, participants will learn how to define imposter syndrome and discuss the six dimensions of imposter syndrome. The group will also identify the five types of imposters (how these types manifest themselves in our lives), and explore ways to help themselves and others overcome imposter syndrome.

Are you concerned about potential biases based on gender that might impact your performance dialogue? Research indicates that performance assessment is indeed a gendered arena. This session introduces key research findings and is designed to help you explore strategies for success with your peer group in the session.

 Christa Downey Heather Fortenberry Christa Downey, MS and Heather Fortenberry, BS: Maximizing Your Network

In this interactive session, Christa Downey and Heather Fortenberry will explore a few key features of LinkedIn and Cornell Colleague Connections. Participants will learn to leverage their existing connections and the Cornell network, as well as how to make connections in specific fields or locations. Additionally, they will talk about the value of networking tools in career exploration – how to get a better sense for career paths in a particular field and how to pick up valuable insight about career options without having to talk to anyone!

 Sally Klingel Sally Klingel, MS: Everyday Negotiation

Sally Klingel will discuss basic negotiation skills, how to feel confident/competent in negotiations, and negotiating to resolve conflict.

 Steph Cowling Steph Cowling, MA: What, So What, Now What?

This wrap-up session will include individual reflection on the day’s events, identifying accountability partners to encourage implementation of the knowledge learned at the conference, and expressing gratitude.
