- Leaves are curled upwards (not completely rolled), plants may be stunted
- Leaves are rolled up into tubes
- Leaves are curled downwards, especially in young plantings
- The entire plant is twisted, and leaves are curled, regardless of leaf age
- Expanding leaves are crinkled, and crack underneath when pulled
- New leaves (only) emerging from the crown are crinkled, deformed, and stunted
