Pasture Walk for Livestock Producers – Wednesday, September 14th – 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm – 4812 Barnard Road, Hemlock (Livingston County) – Managing pasture is important for any livestock producer, especially in extreme weather conditions. Join us for an educational pasture walk to learn pasture management and soil health strategies to help get the most out of your land. Dr. Michael Baker, Cornell University Beef Specialist, and Nancy Glazier, Small Farms and Livestock Specialist for the Northwest New York Dairy, Livestock & Field Crop Team, will lead participants in a tour of pasture in-use for beef production. The pasture walk will take place rain or shine. Please meet at the barns on the property with appropriate footwear; plastic boot covers will be provided for biosecurity. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple, please pay in cash or check at the event. Grazing and Pasture Management Workshop – Monday, September 19th – 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm – Eight, 3-hour sessions on the 3rd Monday of each month until November – Monday, September 19th — Multi-Species Management on Pasture – Kingbird Farm, Berkshire (Tioga County)  Recommended for: FARM PLANNERS • FARM WORKERS • EARLY STAGE BEGINNING FARMERS • EXPERIENCED BEGINNING FARMERS  The eight-part technical course starts from the important details of how pasture management effects grass growth, works through the nitty-gritty details of successful pasture based farms and finishes with how to get your pastured meat processed and marketed. Each month throughout the grazing season there will be an intensive workshop on a different farm highlighting specific topics while also showcasing the unique elements of each farm in respect to their grazing systems.  Each farm will give participant’s a different perspective and insight on how to set up their own grazing systems.
