With the flurry of phishing e-mails going around from compromised accounts, now is a good time to remind everyone about the Two-Step Login option for your e-mail.
We are all required to use two-step for logging into Cornell/CCE sites such as WorkDay and CCE Business Systems, but currently it is not mandatory to use two-step for accessing our e-mail. You can add this extra security of Two-Step Login to your Office 365 account. When you use Two-Step Login with Office 365, it protects access to your email, calendar, and all other Office 365 services.
I encourage you all to opt in to better protect your account and information. It’s also very likely that it will be mandatory sometime in the next year anyway so you will already be two-steps ahead. 😉
Information on how to opt in for two step can be found at: https://it.cornell.edu/twostep/opt-two-step-login-office-365
FYI:
- When you Opt In to Two-Step Login, it will apply to all Office 365 applications on all your devices, including your computer, Outlook on the Web, and all your mobile devices where you use Office 365.
- After you opt in, you will NOT be required to go through the two step process every time you open Outlook on your computer (only when it is first installed and perhaps after a major Office update.)
- If you want to use Apple’s Mail and Calendar apps in iOS 11 and later, first configure iOS 11 to work with Two-Step Login on your iPhone or iPad.
- If you are switching to Microsoft Outlook for iOS or Android from some other mobile app for email or calendar, you will need to disable that software before opting in.
