Please begin on-boarding/welcoming the Class of 2020 to your club/association in August (review Timeline for central Alumni Affairs’ summer email campaign). We’ve shared some best practices and a sample welcome email to get started!
Best Practices for Emails
- Have a compelling email subject; what would encourage YOU to click & read more?
– Update from the Cornell Club of Hawaii → boring
– Cornellians Brunch on May 15 – Hawaii Edition → interesting
– Brunch? Beachside? With Cornellians? Join us! → I want to learn more!
- Shorter is better – average email read time is 15-20 seconds
- Be thoughtful about acronyms; this group may not know the lingo yet
- Consider only one CTA (call-to-action) per email: what do you hope they’ll do after reading this email?
Ex: register for the event, check out the website, watch a video, respond with their feedback, etc. - If you need more than one CTA, organize them clearly
