Community Lunch Program

The STAR Committee seeks out volunteers* from the Cornell AgriTech to staff the Geneva Community Lunch Program (Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes) each Thursday during the month of January. A total of 8 – 10 volunteers are needed Thursdays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm to prepare and serve a hot lunch meal for those in the community who might otherwise go hungry.

A whole shift from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm includes setting up the dining area, prepping food, serving lunch, cleaning-up, and taking down the dining area. Volunteers can also work a half-shift from 9:00 am – 11:00 am (which includes set-up and food prep) or from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm (which includes food service and clean up).

Take advantage of this great opportunity to help others in the community and to connect with some of your co-workers outside the lab or office.

*For non-exempt staff the requirement for this absence would be to take paid leave (vacation, personal, or make up the time, with the approval of your supervisor).
