Cornell University

Welcome

Welcome to my summer blog! My name is Sarah Garcia and I am an intern for Cornell Cooperative Extension. This summer I am working on measuring pesticide resistance in Tompkins and Rockland county mosquito populations. Not just any mosquitoes, though — only species of mosquitoes that can transmit human disease. This information is very useful in the case that a mosquito-borne illness breaks out so that we can quickly and effectively control the population. I am located in Ithaca, NY on Cornell’s campus and I am working with the Harrington Lab, which specializes in medical entomology.
