News from Cornell Fungi:

We are sad to share that Richard P. Korf passed away yesterday, at the age of 91.
Dick spent his distinguished career as Professor of Mycology at Cornell University, producing over 400 papers advancing the study of cup fungi and fungal nomenclature. He inspired many in the study of fungi, and trained talented students who continue his legacy. He co-founded the journal Mycotaxon with his friend Gregoire Hennebert. In addition to directing the growth of the Cornell Plant Pathology Herbarium, he left a treasured collection of his own totaling over 5000 specimens.
At a reception Saturday night in Ithaca, his remarkable family and friends raised toasts of Guinness (his drink of choice); remembered his generosity, humor, and wisdom; and sang his favorite songs.
A memorial service for Dick is planned for later this year; details to come.
