Sunshine and fun times at the 2017 SIPS Summer Picnic

-Magdalen Lindeberg
There are many ways to celebrate the Summer Solstice. Some honored the season with cut-throat rounds of bingo. Toni DiTommaso welcomed summer winning a gift certificate from Pesco’s Barber Shop! For everyone at Wednesday’s 2017 SIPS Picnic, the event was an opportunity for good food, games, fun prizes, and conversation.

Many thanks to the SIPS Social Committee for all their hard work setting up games and tables – in particular, Tara Reed, who worked tirelessly to coordinate the venue, food and music, and bingo prizes, and who with Michele Blackmore, contacted dozens of local businesses, soliciting excellent raffle prize donations.  Tara and Michele also spend part of Tuesday squeegeeing water (and frogs) out of the pavilion!  Thanks also to Cindy Twardokus, who created the picnic flyer and provided other behind the scenes assistance. Catering was provided by The Heights Café (owner: James Larounis) and music by DJ Dale from Sound on Sound Productions.

Many thanks to local businesses who generously provided the following raffle prizes and congratulations to the winners:

  • A Science and Nature Family Membership to the Museum of the Earth and Cayuga Nature Center valued at $95 (James Tanaka)
  • Gift certificate for lunch for two at Purity Ice Cream (Eldon Rowland)
