Chris Smart, SIPS Director since 2016, was celebrated with an ice cream social on July 20th.  The well-attended event featured ice cream from Cornell Dairy and remarks from CALS Associate Dean Beth Ahner and incoming SIPS Director Joss Rose.  Chris passed on the ceremonial “SIPS baton” she had previously received from Alan Collmer, the first director of the school. In gratitude for her service, Chris was also presented with funds for an all-access ski pass for use in Colorado, where she and Larry Smart will be spending their upcoming sabbatic leave. Joss Rose, professor and recent chair of the Plant Biology Section, will begin his appointment as the school’s director on Aug. 1, 2022.
