SIPS is excited to welcome Yiqi Luo, SIPS-wide professor of terrestrial carbon cycle modeling. Yiqi officially started at Cornell on July 1. His office is currently in 310 Bradfield and his program will be housed in Beebe Hall for the duration of the Plant Science Building renovation.

Prior to his arrival at Cornell, Yiqi was Regents Professor of Ecology in the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society at Northern Arizona University. His research program is focused on predictive understanding of ecosystem ecology and biogeochemistry under the global environmental change via data-model integration. Major issues include (1) how global change alters structure and functions of terrestrial ecosystems, and (2) how terrestrial ecosystems regulate climate change, addressed using experimentation, observation, data synthesis, modeling, data-model fusion, and theoretical analysis.

Among his many honors, Yiqi is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, the Ecological Society of America, and AAAS. He has also been recognized by Web of Science as a highly cited researcher for 2018-2021.

Yiqi extends his greetings, “It is my privilege to join SIPS community. I am excited to work at Cornell and looking forwards to interact and collaborate with many of you in the SIPS family.”
