Cornell Symphony helps students through exams

Before this day, I had not attended a performance by Cornell Symphony. Once the show began, I was instantly enamored by the effortless melodies that were produced by this group. Ever since I was little, I was always interested in music and instruments. At the age of 9 I fell in love with the flute and when I came to college I decided to focus more on my studies. Little did I know, there were people who loved it so much that they continued to play here at Cornell, through the Symphony Orchestra. It was amazing to see how much work they put into the pieces for the performance. I will definitely come see their future performances, it is a nice break from the stress that school work may bring.

  1. This sounded like a very nice event to attend! I admire the students who have the dedication to still pursue music as an extracurricular activity on top of an already busy schedule. Listening to the Symphony Orchestra is a great way to relax and unwind from a stressful week. I will definitely have to attend one of their performances in the future!

  3. While I only was in my school band for my middle school days, I always have enjoyed listening to live symphony music. I never thought of going to the symphony orchestra as a way to take a break from studying, but it seems like a great idea!

  4. I agree, the relaxing effect of classical music is something we should integrate into our busy lives. Classical music does slow our heart rate and decreases stress. We should take advantage particularly during exam times of the power of music to reduce stress and bring calm into our lives. If other types of music have calming effects for you, do not hesitate to follow your preferences! Even nature sounds can help you relax, find what works for you, there are many soothing sounds and music does bring comfort to the soul!
