The influence of media about consent in relationships is interesting because of the romantic comedies I laughed and cried about, the perseverance of a guy/girl makes the romantic relationship last. However, we can see it as a disrespectful way to disregard the other person’s feelings and it is definitely worthwhile to think more about the gap between the image of love in films and in reality.

Fear of Pain
I never questioned the fear of pain as I always include the trait in the “humanity starter pack.” I find many scientific innovations and discoveries all with the basis of the fear of pain. In other words, we can see signs of fear of pain in many of our behaviors such as our tendency to find patterns in order to predict the uncertainty of the future. A simple example would be us checking the weather reports and figure out the appropriate outfits: we don’t want to bring an umbrella, wear cumbersome rain boots, and put on uncomfortable raincoats on a sunny day because it is too much work/pain. Therefore, we want something that reduces this pain that we can avoid suffering from. The avoidance of pain has been there as always, and I find it as a motivation to continue to improve on discoveries and technologies.
Human?
Men like violence because it feels good
but I am aghast at how brutal these go
and from the movie I wonder how rude
how crude and how much they know
to be this clueless about lives
should they be considered as humans?
if they are this inhuman
I don’t know
and I don’t want to know
Halloween and Fears
Two friends frustrated with societal situations,
decide to leave homework’s manipulations,
celebrate the festivity of human creations,
and with wrong tools, easy distortions,
just like first-generation students’ frustrations,
wrong tools, learning with the complications,
who will provide the justifications?
I think only the girl next to me.
First Taste of Law
We had a hands-on experience of deciding if an act is murder or not. I have been always interested in law because of my limited exposure to it. I think it is interesting to see the nuances and thought process to decide if a situation is judged fairly and an appropriate decision is imposed upon the violater. During my trip to Vietnam, my friend and I had sat next to a lawyer who owns a law firm and to my interest in philosophy, I asked him if he believes in morality. He answered that once you are in in this industry, there is no morality. I was shook when I heard it but I think I realised his position during the discussion after movie, even when we have the evidence(scenes) right in front of us to decide on if it is a murder case or not.
About Protests
I find the question for the efficiency of protests interesting. When a person needs to use professional life to express personal values because the protests do not bring a strong statement, we should definitely question about the usefulness of the form of protests. In particular, what can we improve on to make it more forceful but also not intruding other aspects(professional) of our lives?
Botanical Gardens Tour
After attending the tour in the Botanic Gardens, I found out I have been missing out the beauty of nature at Cornell. I grew up in big cities, with only green plants and flowers for decoration. It was something novel to me because of the diversity of flowers, and number of stories that the guide has to tell about the history of Cornell in just a little corner of Campus.
