I attended the movie night and watched Zootopia for the first time. This movie is a kid friendly movie but also touches upon many of the issues our society faces currently. I related the storyline to how African Americans are treated in this country. They are viewed as dangerous and vicious just like the predator animals in the movie. In reality, they are nice wholesome people. It is good t5o teach kids at a young age how to not pass judgement on people just because of the way they look. This was by far my favorite animated film along with Ratatouille of course.
This movie is absolutely amazing! it really tries to show that stereotypes do not define anyone and that we can be anyone we aspire to be if we believe in ourselves and our capabilities!
I agree. I think it is nice when a children’s movie can represent a complex issue in a way that is digestible and fun for it’s audience but doesn’t oversimplify struggle.
This is my new favorite movie too! I really love how they used the animal kingdom to paint a picture of what’s happening in the human society. It was empowering and enlightening
It’s movies like this that aim to change the structured stereotypes that can often be ingrained in our society. I am looking forward to the day new movies can be created to take down multiple taboo areas such as mental health, etc so that we can build a more informed society! Movies have the power to connect and inspire, which is important since it can bridge the gaps in understanding the people of all backgrounds have.
