For this week at rose, the Rose House was hosting the Herpetologist Society, which brings in their pet reptiles to present to the public. I liked reptiles as a kid and visited zoos across the world so I was kind of excited to see what reptiles Hematological Society had. The first one I saw was the big boa, which I thought was a “VantaBlack” snake but it was instead and Colombian Boa. I had the opportunity to hold him for a while and he was quite heavy and weird to hold since he coiled on me in a weird way. The color and size of it was cool and I thought that a snake that big wouldn’t be allowed at Cornell itself. Afterwards, I encountered several smaller snakes, which had their own tales and stories on where they came from and how they are cared for. I could only stay for about half an hour before I had to go but it was amazing to see so many different reptiles and the people who care for them at Cornell. They even gave advice to some people if they wanted to raise reptiles and what and where to get them and whether or not some reptiles are too aggressive to be for Cornell. They even told people where to live if they wanted to bring their reptiles and told them if they wanted to bring their animals to just hit up Herpetologist Society. It was a cool event overall and hope that Rose House does another event such as this.
