Volunteering at BJM on Oct 30 was a wonderful experience as usual. I volunteered with the art group and we colored pictures with pencils and markers. I was pretty amazed by the creativity of the students, as well as their enthusiasm for Halloween. One boy designed a haunted house complete with a ghost, a vampire, a witch, and cobwebs. I talked to one student who told me she was excited to go as Elsa from Frozen for Halloween, and that she had a blue dress she was going to wear. Another student drew a picture of a Thanksgiving dinner table. Spending time with the kids reminded me of how fun holidays are. Although Halloween has passed, I’m really looking forward to Thanksgiving.
I also love their enthusiasm when I visit BJM. I wish students our age would be as enthused by holidays as these students are!
