Last Thursday, I attended the Professional Headshot Seminar with Shiv and Sabrina, our GRFs. On top of getting our headshots taken, the GRFs answered our questions on professionalism, LinkedIn building, and preparing for our future years in college. This session was extremely helpful because I found out how LinkedIn profiles can be more creative and representative of skills that may not necessarily be appropriate to include in a resume (such as hobbies). While I have had a LinkedIn from before, the content on it was identical to the content of my resume.
After the conversation, I feel that I have a better grasp on how I can enhance my profile on multiple platforms. With this knowledge, I feel more confident in presenting myself to future employers. It seems that understanding how to present yourself is essential in finding a job or an internship, as there is very little an employer can interpret solely from a resume.
Yeah, I realized that starting to prepare for jobs and professional profiles like LinkedIn and Handshake should be now. It’s better to start late than never as they say.
