Supporting Our Alumni

Alumni shaking hands

The Alumni Affairs office has been working hard to come up with creative ways to facilitate career support for our alumni. This is a request that we hear a lot, but especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, we put together a working group to come up with a framework to help move these initiatives forward while keeping in line with our Strategic Plan. This framework allows us to:

  • Provide career programming
  • Teach alumni how to network with one another
  • Facilitate alumni-to-alumni connections
  • Connect alumni to career development opportunities

We’re thrilled to share the ways in which the group is working to deliver on this framework! First, the group put together an Alumni Career Support website. This site allows alumni to see upcoming career-related events, ways to connect with each other online, and other programming based on industry. On the website you will also find ways to recruit Cornell students, tools for resume building, a career development toolkit, and so much more!

We’ve also opened up CUeLinks for alumni-to-alumni connections! The platform was previously used solely for student-to-alumni mentoring, but is now able to connect Cornellians to each other. Make sure your information is up-to-date or set up a profile today!

If you’re looking for even more ways to stay connected with your fellow alumni, join the Cornell University Alumni Network on LinkedIn. This group has over 60,000 members including staff, faculty, and alumni. It’s a great way to grow your network, post, and look for new jobs.

Finally, the working group has put together Advancing Your Career hub filled with recordings of past career-related events. You can find recordings on resume writing, learning how to network, and hear from alumni on the “Forbes 30 Under 30” list.

This was a huge undertaking and involved gathering information and feedback from alumni, as well as our college and unit partners. We are very excited to see this career hub grow and grateful for the time and effort the working group put into this project. Be sure to bookmark the Alumni Career Support website as there will continue to be additions to it!
