Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Department: Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Michigan

Dr. Zeribe Nwosu obtained a bachelor’s degree from Ebonyi State University, Nigeria, where he studied Medical Laboratory Science, specializing in Clinical Biochemistry/Chemical Pathology, and was the best graduating student. He obtained a master’s degree in Biomedical Science with Distinction from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. There he became interested in cancer research and worked on breast cancer metastasis. Subsequently, he obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with summa cum laude from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. There he studied metabolic alterations in liver cancer in the lab of Prof. Steven Dooley. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the labs of Dr. Costas Lyssiotis and Prof. Marina Pasca di Magliano at the Rogel Cancer Center, University of Michigan. Dr. Nwosu’s research focuses on determining the key metabolic alterations that promote pancreatic cancer and the mechanisms responsible for such alterations. He seeks to understand how cells in the tumor microenvironment, e.g., immune cells, affect tumor metabolism and growth. Dr. Nwosu is also interested in using bioinformatics to identify genes that are potential drivers, therapeutic targets, or predictors of prognostic outcomes in pancreatic cancer. His overall goal is to find better treatment options for pancreatic cancer. He is very active in mentoring young scientists and is always willing to share his experience. Dr. Nwosu will be applying for faculty positions in 2022.
