Dr. Elisa Kallioniemi

Dr. Elisa Kallioniemi is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Aalto University, Finland, and her Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Eastern Finland. Dr. Kallioniemi’s research focuses on studying the neural mechanisms of electromagnetic brain stimulation and developing novel electromagnetic brain stimulation methodology and treatments. Dr. Kallioniemi has primarily worked with transcranial magnetic stimulation and magnetic seizure therapy. The long-term vision of her independent research program is to develop advanced brain stimulation applications to study the brain and more efficient and personalized brain stimulation treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Kallioniemi is currently applying for tenure track faculty positions.
