Department: MML at NIST

Dr. Diane Nelson is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow, and a Burroughs Welcome Fund Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She designs complex fluids for pulmonary drug delivery systems, characterizing physiochemical properties, toxicity profiles, and in vivo pharmacokinetics. These efforts rely on an interdisciplinary approach, including colloid chemistry, fluorine chemistry, interfacial phenomena, microfluidics, fluid dynamics, mass transport, and lung pathophysiology. Beyond her immediate background in biomedical engineering, Dr. Nelson’s experience spans mathematics and tissue engineering. Dr. Nelson will be on the job market Fall in 2020.
